I watched The Wiz last night. To paraphrase Shani O. Hilton, it was an excellent example of black people having to work twice as hard to get half as far as white people.
It's also a reminder that it's even harder to achieve similar notoriety for people of Hispanic, Latin@, Asian/Pacific Islander, or Middle Eastern/North African descent. There aren't many Broadway musical featuring nonwhite characters.
The Lion King. Also black people.

I also tweeted and Facebooked and brainstormed ideas. My latest notion is writing about diversity in media for actual publications and getting paid for it. I do receive monetary compensation for other types of published articles that I create, so I will figure out this situation.
